Tessa - Coshan's Contessa

All Tessa's puppies have been adopted.

Tessa has had her third and final litter of 5 puppies.  Born almost a week earlier then I expected they are all great.  Weights from 7.5oz to 9.4oz - Good size puppies.  I'll post pictures of them in the coming days.  The first couple days she is very protective so I have to do what I can quickly when she is outside.  Change bedding, check weights, see who is who.  The quick check I got during the night were 3 boys and 2 girls.

The first week has passed with ups and downs.  One pup took a little while to start gaining weight but now is catching up gangbusters.  They have been a really busy bunch, boy they can crawl fast.  They had their first nail trim today and everyone was great.  Very quiet and content babies.

17 Days Old
Pups are gaining weight great, everyone is over a pound now.  They had their second nail trim today.  BIG NEWS: the eyes are opening.  They creap around quickly and I have no doubt they will be on their feet before you know it.
24 days old
They have started walking and coming out of the crate to do their business (most of the time).  They are just starting to play with toys but they really love wrestling with each other.   Still walk unsteady but do manage to move pretty quickly when they want to.

They are steady on their feet and can run.  Its very cute to see.  They play with their toys and each other and it can get a bit rowdy.  They are eating from a bowl now, not quite kibble yet but maybe later this week.

This has been a very busy week.  They stay awake much longer now.  We have gone outside to play, its great fun.  They have started playing with their tunnel.  The run through it, over it and pull it around.  So far we are staying on the deck but this coming week the world will get bigger yet and we will move into the yard.  They are eating just kibble (I do add some water) but they will eat it without.   Last night they all went to bed except for Izzy so she was the first to try a cookie.  She loved it.  Today everyone will get one.

Time is just flying by.  They are running around the yard like crazy.  Just having a ball.  They are being pretty consistent about doing their business off the deck and in the yard.  "Leave it" they have become vary familiar with quickly.  When I call "bowl" the come to eat, and "come on in house" they run into their room.  Slowly working on "do your business", that will become more important in the next few weeks.  They are picking things up quickly.  Little smarties.  A couple of them have started going up onto the puppy gym but they all love running through the tunnels below it.  Tried a swimming pool yesterday and they stayed in long enough to wet the feet and drink a little before they jumped out.  It is suppose to be over 90 degrees today so we will see if they like it a little better today.

They will be 8 weeks in 4 more days.  I cannot believe how fast the time is going.  Probably because this is my last and I am enjoying them as much as possible.  They are in the early stages of house training and doing great.  They will be in the kitchen all day now and only in their room to sleep at night.   They are spending their time with all the other dogs and no one seems to mind.  The grownups can hop the wall and go into the living room if they need to get away but so far don't mind the little's being underfoot.

Its a little over 8 weeks and they are doing great.  They now spend all day with all the other dogs.  When they eat or I have to go to work they have a pen in the kitchen to keep them safe.  The rest of the time they are running wild.  Last night (Friday) they spent the first night in the crate with the door closed.  They went to bed at 10 pm and didn't wake up until 5 this morning.  Bed was dry and they never cried during the night.  Such good kids.  We have sorted out the first three.  Lexi Ferrucci, Alex Malloy and George (Charlie) Cavanaugh.  Lexi and Alex will get new names when they go home.  So now we start interviews for Izzy and Bluto (What David now calls Andy because he is such a big sweet boy).

Life is getting busier and busier and so much more fun.  They play for more extended times now and run like the wind.  They sleep through the night from 9pm to 5am.  I'm hoping for 6am soon.  They race around like crazy when they first get up and have their last big play end just before 9.  They race, play ball, wrestle, they have an old hose they drag around the yard and of coarse sleep.  A George and Alex will be going to their forever home this week, and then Lexy in a couple weeks.  I'm glad we still have Izzy and Alex (who we now call Bluto) so that Lexy has company.  But they will eventually have their forever homes too.   I am going to miss having the babies around.  Since this is the last litter I am enjoying them as much as possible.

Our little girl has had her second litter.  I was expecting it on the 11th but she had other ideas, she wanted to be a mom on Mothers Day.  So after a long early labor and a lot of nesting and pacing she delivered 6 pups in an hour and a half.  Once again she only had one boy and he was the smallest, we are calling him Bob because a small boy needs a big guy name.  The 5 girls are all doing great and we are calling them Angel, Faith, Hope, Charity and Grace.

Tessa has had her 1st litter with Jack.  Born Oct 22, 2016.  One boy, the firstborn and 4 sisters followed.  All doing well and eating like champs.  Tessa is proving to be a great mom and was an easy whelper.   She is fabulous with the babies.  I'm so proud of her.

Tessa was born on Thanksgiving day 2012, November 22nd to Sophie.  Her Dad is Polygor Shalimar's Brady.  The picture above was her as a puppy.  She is very cute but a little timid although much less since giving birth.  She has done a couple shows and did okay but really didn't enjoy it, so she is not going anymore..  Like Jack she is clear of NCL and RD but a carrier for LL.   Hips and eyes done.
Tessa with puppies under her.  She is such a good mom.   1st litter.

Tessa litter #2
Our little girl has done it again.  6 pups born with no problems, very easy birth and all the puppies are doing great.  She once again had only one boy and he was the smallest so we are calling him Bob, a big guy name.  The five girls are  Angel, Grace, Faith, Hope and Charity.  When they are bigger we will do individual photos but for now just a group photo.

Its been a quiet week.  Tessa is a good Mom so they are all quiet as mice.  Using their energy to grow and they have done that well.  I took pictures of them on the scale so you can see the weights.  They have all gained a lot.  In another day or two they will have doubled their birth weight.
Two weeks old
The pups continue to gain weight well.  The eyes should be opening this coming week.  I can see it is starting.
Three weeks old
They are really getting around now.  They wander in and out of the crate, getting stronger legs by the day.  Still look like a bunch of drunken sailors though. The eyes are fully open and they can hear us now.  They are all gaining weight and eating great.  Poor Mom.

Playing, barking, wrestling with each other. starting to get interested in the water bowl.  Spending less time with Mom and eating mush with kibble in it.  Have a small video for this week below.
Week 5
This week they are learning to go outside.  At the beginning of the week I had to carry them, by the end of the week they were going in and out on their own.  They are eating just soft kibble now (and a little hard) and drinking from the water bowl.  They still grab Mom when they can. Toys are becoming more interesting to them and they love the tunnel.  Another video, from this week.
Week 6
This has been a very busy week for them.  They are staying awake and playing much longer.  Jumping off the deck and playing in the big yard.  They love the tunnels under the playground and on occasion try going up the playground stairs.  Getting very good at doing their business out doors.  They will cry at the door to come outside now.  I have to lock the screen door as Milly let herself out the other day.  Fortunatly I was right here and caught her.  Like I said BUSY.
Week 7
Puppies are learning so much.  The eat in the kitchen and come running when they hear me tap their bowl.  As long as I am home they are outside playing, napping on the deck or in the kitchen.  Yesterday we had an entire day with no accidents in the house.  They are starting to understand the concept of doing their business out doors.  Progress, but a long way to go.  They run like the dickens as you'll see from the video.  Fast Fast Fast.  Then Sleep Sleep Sleep...
8 Weeks Old
We have been busy - growing and playing.  They have been doing pretty much all their business outside this past week - a couple of indoor accidents but not bad.  They wake up in the kitchen from a nap and go straight outside.  The kitchen door has been left open while they get the basic idea.  This week we close it so they have to ask to go out.  We will also start sleeping in our crate with the door closed.  Puppy pads gone.  The get more fun to watch play each week.  This weeks video is hysterical.  Busy Busy.
Tessa litter #1.
Puppies are doing great, gaining over an ounce daily.  They are quiet, happy and adorable.  I'll have to come up with temporary names soon.  Hopefully by week 3 rolls around.
Puppies are 3 weeks old now and leaving the crate on their own.  They have tried formula once and most of them dove right it.  Especially Mini.  I have given the temporary names.  The boy Sam, the girls in birth order are Star, Mini, Goldie and Sage.

Week four and the big news this week is they are eating from a bowl for a couple meals.  Mom is still feeding too.  I put a little video so you can hear what noisy eaters they are.
Week 5 and things are progressing nicely.  They are very busy when they are not eating or sleeping.  Play times are a half hour now instead of 5 minutes.  We switch out toys to make things different all the time. Keep things interesting.  They love the A-frame and that is there all the time.  The food is only kibble, just softened a little.  This week we will get to plain old kibble, they have teeth and have no problem chewing.
Week 6 has been fun.  They are busy busy busy now.  Spend much more time awake playing.   They have been outside a couple times and are spending time in the klitchen to see new sights and sounds.  Once they have gotten used to being outdoors we can start house training.  For now, just fun.
Week 7 has been huge.  They are very comfy with being outdoors and venturing off the deck.  Their day now is getting up in their baby room and having breakfast.  Then out to play and run and run.  Then into the kitchen to hang around with the other dogs and more play until they drop into a nap.  Lunch they get in their kitchen x-pen and then back outside for more running around.  A moment ago Goldie went to the door, scratched on the glass, I let her out and she left the deck and pee'd in the pea stone.  Good baby.  They spend the afternoon in the kitchen with occasional trips outside.  Supper in the pen and back outside one last time.  After this they head back into their baby room where they play with their tunnel and toys until bedtime.  They each get a baby cookie and lights out.   When outside anyone that does their business gets big praise.  A start at house training.  They are not confined to their crate at night yet, need more training first.  Its a process.  We had our 1st snow and the puppies ran right out into it.  They have spent most of the day plaing in the snow.
Week 8 and I cannot believe how fast this time has passed.  Pups are doing great with the house training.  We have very few accidents in the house.  We had some new snow and it is still snowing so first this this morning we went out and played in it.  I got a few pictures but they are running and having such a great time not all the picture are to clear on who it was in the picture.  But they are still fun.  I hope to get a video of them later today.   They are growing, happy little creatures and such a good litter.  They are picking things up very quickly.
Week 9 and going home is coming quick.  The time seemes to have flown, these pups have been so easy.  Their training continues going good.  Going to get boring around here soon.  I had some videos but I'm having some technical trouble.
